Job Summary
Conduct daily instruction for elementary or early childhood students in classrooms of six or fewer, collaborating with a full-time co-teacher. Create and implement lesson plans, supervise teaching assistants, and administer educational assessments. Prepare Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and participate in multidisciplinary treatment teams while managing behavior and crisis interventions. Transport students for community outings as needed. Requires RI certification in regular or special education, experience with BD/ED children, and a valid driver's license. This 225-day role at Mount Pleasant Academy offers a $1,000 sign-on bonus, bilingual/ASL compensation, and comprehensive benefits.
Required Qualifications
- RI certification as Teacher of regular or special education (elementary and/or early childhood)
- Experience with BD/ED children
- Experience working with elementary-ages students
- Computer literacy
- Possession of a valid driver's license
- Reliable transportation
- Auto insurance
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs
- Ability to communicate by voice, use sight and hearing
- Ability to participate in physical crisis intervention with students as needed
- Attendance of field trips
- Possible home visits on occasion
- Travel to and from community locations and office site
