Job Summary
Plan, design, implement and assess an instructional program in a high school environment for Family & Consumer Sciences, guiding diverse students from ninth to twelfth grade. Utilize the Virginia Standards of Learning and LCPS curriculum to create authentic and engaging learning experiences, incorporating various instructional materials and technology to promote critical thinking, collaboration, and problem solving. Personalize instruction to meet student needs, assess growth in relation to instructional goals, and communicate progress with students and parents. Adhere to assessment and grading policies, analyze data to refine teaching practices, and collaborate with colleagues to maximize learning opportunities. Manage classroom behavior to maintain a supportive learning environment, and participate in plans with professional staff to enhance student learning. May supervise teacher assistants, student teachers, and volunteers, and actively participate in the school's professional learning community to develop assessments that measure mastery.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college
- Holds or eligible for a Virginia teaching license, with an endorsement in appropriate subject area
- Demonstrated knowledge of subject content, curriculum, and methodology of effective teaching
- Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs
- Skilled in the use of multi-media and computer technology to enhance learning
- Ability to establish and maintain effective collaborative relationships with students, peers, administrators, and parents
- Demonstrated skill in oral and written communications; excellent human relations skills
