Job Summary
Exceptional Education Teacher responsible for providing SDI to students with disabilities within the general curriculum, developing and implementing IEPs, collaborating with parents and staff, and ensuring compliance with IDEA and Virginia regulations. Duties include modifying the general curriculum, utilizing assistive technology, participating in eligibility meetings, collecting data to monitor progress, maintaining accurate records, communicating with families, supervising paraprofessionals, applying positive behavioral supports, and contributing to an inclusive learning environment for students to achieve academic and functional growth.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Special Education or a related field
- Valid Virginia teaching license with an endorsement in Special Education - General Curriculum K-12 (provisional licensure considered)
- Effective organizational, team-building, and problem-solving skills
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Expertise in development, implementation, and monitoring of IEPs in compliance with IDEA and Virginia regulations
