Teacher: Exceptional Children (EC)

Exceptional Children Teacher provides special education services to students identified as having a disability in accordance with state and federal regulations. Work involves developing and implementing the Individual Education Plan in classroom settings that are compatible with the student’s age and developmental level. The EC teacher is responsible for developing lesson plans, adapting materials and designing activities to assist EC students to develop appropriate academic, behavioral, and social skills, as well as meeting their IEP goals. Duties include developing instructional plans aligned with school-wide goals, maintaining IEPs and student records, direct special education instruction, employing varied teaching methods, monitoring behavior and providing behavioral supports, assisting students with personal tasks, communicating with parents, acting as a case manager, and adhering to North Carolina procedures governing programs for students with disabilities. The role is a 10-month position following the school calendar, located in Whiteville, NC, with in-person work expectations. The successful candidate will hold a Bachelor’s degree in education and a valid NC teaching certificate in the applicable area, with the ability to operate typical classroom tools and maintain professional standards and development.
