Job Summary
Guide the learning process toward curriculum goals by establishing clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects tailored to students with intellectual disabilities. Employ varied instructional techniques and media consistent with student needs and physical location constraints. Implement the District's educational philosophy through direct instruction and action while managing multiple tasks and student behaviors. Devote additional hours beyond the standard workday for grading and lesson plan preparation. Requires a Bachelor's degree, Florida Department of Education certification, and eligibility for the appropriate subject area. Starting salary is $48,700, with additional referendum funds available for the 26-27 school year.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Must be eligible for Florida Department of Education Certification in appropriate subject area
- Three (3) years successful teaching or work experience with students on the autism spectrum and/or students with behaviorally complex needs
- Experience with special education and related services for students with disabilities
- Board certification as a Behavior Analyst
- Florida Department of Education teaching certification in at least one (1) area of Exceptional Student Education, Guidance and Counseling or School Psychology
- Autism Spectrum Disorder Endorsement
- Five (5) years successful classroom teaching experience in exceptional student education or a combination of exceptional/regular education teaching experience
- Background in behavior management techniques
- Florida Department of Education certification in at least one (1) area of Exceptional Student Education, Administration/Supervision or Educational Leadership
- Three (3) years experience working with students with disabilities
- Certification in at least one area of exceptional student education (for Autism positions, Autism certification or endorsement required)

- Knowledge of subject content
- Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong time management skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software skills
- Ability to plan and implement a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students
- Ability to devote additional hours beyond the workday for grading papers, preparation of lesson plans, etc.
- Ability to manage students
- Ability to manage multiple tasks
