Job Summary
Teach middle school English (6th–8th grade) in Aldie, VA, designing and implementing authentic, engaging learning experiences aligned to the Virginia Standards of Learning. Assess student growth, monitor progress, and communicate with parents/guardians about instructional objectives. Manage classroom behavior to maintain a conducive learning environment, plan instructional activities with other professionals, and support colleagues, students, and the community to promote student mastery of content. May direct work of teacher assistants, student teachers, and volunteers; participate in professional learning communities to deepen curriculum understanding and create assessments that measure mastery.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college
- Holds or eligible for a Virginia teaching license in middle school with an endorsement in appropriate subject area
- Demonstrated knowledge of subject content, curriculum, methodology of effective teaching
- Skilled in the use of multi-media and computer technology to enhance learning
- Ability to establish and maintain effective collaborative relationships with students, peers, administrators, and parents
- Demonstrated skill in oral and written communications; excellent human relations skills
- FLSA status: Exempt
