Job Summary
Teach English Language Arts to high school students in grades 9-12 for a 10-month, full-time position at Madison High School. Responsibilities include delivering and aligning instruction to North Carolina Course of Study/Common Core and Essential Standards, planning engaging ELA lessons, and supporting extracurricular assignments as needed. Requires a minimum bachelor's degree in an approved education program and a North Carolina teaching license (or qualifications to obtain one). Master’s degree in English is preferred. Prior high school English teaching experience is preferred; multi-certification is a plus but not required. Strong emphasis on curriculum understanding, assessment, and student growth within a high school ELA context.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum Bachelor's degree from an approved education program in subject area
- Masters in English is preferred but not required
- Must have NC Teaching License or have qualifications to obtain a NC teaching license through a recognized teacher education program
- Must understand North Carolina Course of Study/Common Core and Essential Standards
- Experience teaching English at high school level is preferred
- Multi-certified preferred but not required
