Job Summary
English teacher for Center for Global Studies High School. Responsibilities include following approved scope and sequence, preparing lesson plans, managing classrooms, assessing student learning, maintaining records, conducting parent/teacher conferences, and designing instruction to meet diverse learners’ needs. Requires strong content knowledge in English, effective communication, collaboration in a diverse, multicultural setting, experience with team teaching, and ability to support credit recovery and project-based learning initiatives. Must hold active Connecticut Department of Education certification and a Bachelor's Degree in Education or English; prior urban/multicultural teaching experience and ability to engage students through evidence-based instructional practices.
Required Qualifications
- Active 015 CDE Certification as required by the Connecticut State Department of Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Education or English
- Demonstrated and successful experience in a multi-cultural setting
- Demonstrated ability to teach high school classes
- Experience with team teaching
- Urban experience
- Knowledge of teaching methods, materials, and educational practices applicable to secondary school teaching
