Job Summary
English Teacher at EMNRBS responsible for delivering consistently high-quality, standards-aligned ELA instruction; collaborates closely with an Academic Director, Guidance Counselor, ICT/SPED teams, and families. Responsibilities include teaching 4-6 ELA sections, using data to improve the program, developing lesson plans and differentiated instruction, leading an advisory for 20-25 students, integrating equity into curriculum, planning with ICT and SPED colleagues, attending regular meetings, providing timely feedback, and engaging in ongoing professional development to support student achievement and accountability.
Required Qualifications
- Masters Degree in English (strongly preferred)
- Bachelor's Degree in English (required)
- Valid NYS Teaching Certification (or in active process of completing program)
- Experience teaching in public or charter high school with track record of student growth
- Experience writing/designing curriculum and lessons
- Experience differentiating for students of many abilities
- Commitment to working with BIPOC teens from the South Bronx
- Commitment to holding students accountable to high standards and modeling behaviors
