Job Summary

Teach elementary students culturally appropriate academic, social, and behavioral skills while counseling, disciplining, and supervising to meet individual needs. Plan and implement lesson plans aligned with state standards, manage classroom rules and procedures, and evaluate student progress for state and federal accountability. Collaborate with staff and the Muckleshoot community to develop new programs, maintain daily schedules and records, and prepare substitute plans. Confers with students, parents, and guardians to provide guidance and modify assignments as needed. Maintain up-to-date attendance and grade records, attend required staff meetings, and direct non-certified personnel.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduation from a four (4) year college or university
  • Washington State teaching certificate
  • Valid Washington State driver's license
  • First aid/CPR certification
  • Experiences and sensitivity toward Native American education issues
  • Ability to work effectively in the Muckleshoot tribal community
  • Proficient use of reading, writing and oral communications
  • Effective behavior management techniques
  • Knowledge of rules and procedures for student safety
  • Knowledge of necessary equipment, computers, machinery, tools or software
  • Early childhood education teaching processes and techniques
  • Ability to handle confidential matters and information in a professional manner
