Job Summary
Teach elementary students in an SEI setting by integrating reading, writing, and analytical skills within a child-centered environment that establishes positive behavioral expectations. Implement district learning goals using the Universal Accommodation Plan, administer mid-year and end-of-year assessments, and scaffold instruction to meet diverse needs. Engage families in collaborative relationships and participate in professional reflection and collaboration within the adult learning community. This long-term substitute position starts 10/14/2026 and ends 01/04/2027, with all hires paid per diem. Candidates must hold a Massachusetts Elementary license, an SEI endorsement, and current U.S. work authorization.
Required Qualifications
- Elementary Teacher with an SEI endorsement
- Highly qualified
- Bachelor's degree
- Massachusetts Teaching License in Elementary 1-6
- Meet all state and federal guidelines in order to be fully licensed and Highly Qualified
- Ability to meet the Standards of Effective Teaching established by the Boston Public Schools
- Current authorization to work in the United States
Desired Qualifications
- Experience teaching in urban schools
- Degree in Education
- Hold an SEI endorsement or a dual certification in ESL
- Fluent in one of BPS' official languages: Spanish, Creole (Cape Verdean), Creole (Haitian), Chinese, Vietnamese, Portuguese, & Somali
- Certified in their subject area
- Certified in Moderate Disabilities
- Certified in English as a Second Language (at the appropriate grade level(s))
