Job Summary
Elementary Affective Needs Teacher provides academic and social-emotional instruction to students with disabilities in center-based K-5 specialized programs and demonstrates competencies in advocacy, assessment, collaboration and compliance. Responsibilities include advocating for students with disabilities to ensure access to learning opportunities and equity, assessing eligibility for special education services, developing SMART learning goals, conducting Functional Behavior Assessments and Behavior Intervention Plans, supervising and coordinating paraprofessionals, collaborating with classroom teachers and specialists, implementing IDEA and ECEA regulations, developing and implementing legally compliant IEPs, differentiating instruction for diverse learners, planning lessons aligned with CASEL social-emotional learning standards, and engaging in ongoing professional development.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher
- Criminal background check required for hire
- Must possess the required license and endorsement for the position, or be able to obtain, or be in process with, the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) for a valid Colorado Educator License within 30 days of hire
