Job Summary

Early Head Start Teacher collaborates with a co-Teacher to develop and implement individualized and group lesson plans for infants and toddlers, promoting social-emotional, physical, and cognitive growth; ensures safety and compliance with federal/state/local regulations; conducts home visits and conferences with families, maintains records, and supports program quality and family engagement in a Head Start setting.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a CDA or an associate degree in child development, early childhood education or a related degree with early childhood coursework equivalent to a major relating to early childhood education
  • Professional proficiency in spoken and written English
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate with individuals and teams at all levels in providing high-quality services to children and families
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, communication and organizational skills; problem solving and time management skills
  • Ability to follow established directions and take initiative
  • Knowledge of Head Start/Early Head Start program purpose
  • Ability to relate sensitively to children
  • Ability to keep information confidential
  • Participation in professional development including basic first aid and pediatric CPR certification as required by state licensing and HSPPS
