Job Summary
Lead infant and toddler units in the Early Head Start Program by delivering age-appropriate activities that fuel creativity and development while collaborating with parents and caregivers. Ensure compliance with Head Start performance standards and maintain a safe environment through current EMSA First Aid, CPR, and preventative health certifications. Manage curriculum delivery across three initial units, with a requirement to expand to six units within 12 months of hire. Maintain valid California Child Development Teacher permits and up-to-date vaccinations. This role supports the YMCA's mission to nurture future leaders in a supportive, fun environment. The position offers full-time employment with comprehensive healthcare, paid time off, and access to all 29 Greater LA centers.
Required Qualifications
- 18 years of age or older
- 3 Infant/Toddler Units on official transcript
- 6 Infant/Toddler units within 12 months of hire
- Associate of Arts in Early Childhood Education, Psychology, Social Science, or a related field
- Valid California Child Development Teacher Permit or higher-level permits
- Current approved EMSA First Aid; Adult, Infant and Child CPR Certifications (8 hours)
- 9 Hour course in Preventative Health Practices (PHP)
- Current TB, influenza (limited exceptions), pertussis, and measles vaccination and physical exam
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- 1 year of experience with infant/toddler
- 2 years of teaching experience
- Knowledge of Head Start performance standards
- Creative curriculum experience
- Bilingual English and Spanish (written and verbal)
