Job Summary

Deliver direct and consultative instructional services to students who are deaf or hard of hearing while completing assessments to identify academic strengths and communication needs. Modify curriculum, classroom materials, and teaching methods to improve accessibility, then implement goals and accommodations identified in Individualized Education Programs. Collaborate with classroom teachers, families, campus staff, and interpreters to participate in ARD and IEP meetings, providing progress updates and recommendations. Support communication development through spoken language, sign language, or a combination of approaches, incorporating assistive listening technology and visual supports as appropriate. Maintain accurate service records, progress reports, and required compliance documentation.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • Current Texas teaching certification in Deaf and Hard of Hearing Education or Auditory Impairments
  • Knowledge of specialized instructional practices for students with hearing differences
  • Understanding of IEP procedures, accommodations, and school-based special education services
  • Ability to work collaboratively with educators, families, administrators, and related-service professionals
  • Strong written and verbal communication, organization, and interpersonal skills

Desired Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Proficiency in sign language
