Job Summary
Develop and implement lesson plans for in-person learning that fulfill District curriculum requirements while accommodating individual student differences. Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal testing and work cooperatively with Special Education Teachers to modify curricula as needed. Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct. Establish and maintain professional relationships with parents, students, colleagues, and community members. Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities and sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university
- Valid Texas Teaching Certificate in subject assigned
- Valid Texas Teacher Certificate in English as a Second Language – Required for all Core Subject Teachers
- Valid Texas Teaching Certificate with required endorsements or related training and work experience for certification waivers under the District of Innovation Plan (DOI)
- Prekindergarten and Kindergarten Teachers: Valid Texas Teaching Certificate in Early Childhood
- Physical Education Teachers: Current automated external defibrillator (AED) and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certificate
- Student teaching, approved internship, or related work experience
- Knowledge of core academic subject assigned
- Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); may lift and move textbooks and classroom equipment
- Work to be completed on-site from assigned school or building
- No remote work
- Frequent districtwide travel
- Prolonged sitting and standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
- Frequent walking; repetitive computer work with frequent use of hands and wrists
- Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress work; prolonged or irregular hours
