Job Summary
Cosmetology instructor tasked with teaching adult incarcerated students in a Career and Technical Education setting. Responsible for planning and directing learning activities, aligning with WSD curriculum, and guiding students toward licensure and entry-level cosmetology competency. Responsibilities include delivering advanced hair design techniques, applying correct terminology, maintaining lesson plans and attendance records, participating in staff development, adhering to TEA and district policies, evaluating student progress, and ensuring a professional, confidential classroom environment. Strong emphasis on clear oral and written communication, organizational skills, policy compliance, and the ability to adapt instructional methods to student needs. Position supports remote work with required technology.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma from an accredited high school, or hold GED equivalent.
- Five years full-time, wage-earning experience within the past ten years in the cosmetology field. Experience as a Esthetician, Nail Tech, or Colorist preferred.
- Hold a valid Cosmetology Operator license issued by the Texas Department of Licensure and Regulation.
- Thirty semester hours from an accredited college, university, or technical school may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis with a maximum substitution of four years.
- Windham School District must be able to issue a statement of qualification verifying work experience.
- This position requires personal technology that will enable the completion of job duties and responsibilities when working remotely.
