Job Summary

Teach high school within an alternative education program, delivering engaging instruction using diverse materials and technology; develop daily lesson plans aligned to state guidelines; differentiate to support students with diverse needs (IEPs, behavioral health considerations); collaborate with special education staff; maintain structured classroom environment and communicate progress to families; participate in team meetings and professional development; support student growth through data-driven instruction and ongoing assessment; expect crisis-management training and GA teaching credential compliance; colleagues describe role as mission-driven and focused on student success in an Ombudsman/ChanceLight educational setting.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in education or a closely related field
  • Licensed currently or in the process of obtaining a valid GA state teaching credential
  • Ability to obtain and maintain certification in company approved crisis management training
  • Prior experience teaching at a high school level; preferably in an alternative, special education and/or behavioral health program setting
  • Prior experience and/or knowledge in alternative educational services and/or working with at-risk students with diverse needs at various levels preferred
  • Proven success in developing and implementing effective education plans for students with diverse needs
  • Proficiency in providing motivation and having critical conversations with students that help move them toward realistic goals
  • Prior experience and/or knowledge in working with students with individualized education plans (IEP's)
  • Ability to think and act quickly and calmly in an emergency and make independent decisions
  • Advanced oral and written communication, instruction, curriculum, conflict resolution, multitasking, problem solving, and decision-making ability
  • Knowledge of relevant technology including experience with instructional technology, Microsoft Office Suite, database entry and basic office equipment
