Job Summary
Facilitate and implement individual and group activities to support children's social, physical, and intellectual development while providing diapering, dressing, and personal care in a clean, hygienic environment. Plan and observe daily curriculum, assess child development, and document progress to create individualized goals. Collaborate with co-teachers and advocates to engage families through home visits, conferences, and communication, reinforcing parents' roles as primary educators. Maintain accurate attendance, activity, and assessment records, including data entry into systems like Child Plus. Participate in daily classroom planning and management within the Early Head Start and Head Start program serving children ages birth to five.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of an Associate of Arts (AA) or Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in early childhood education, child development, or related field
- One year of experience as a student intern, tutor, or instructional assistant working in an educational setting with pre-elementary school children
- A minimum of 3 Infant/Toddler Development course units
- California Teaching Commission Child Development Associate Teacher permit
