Job Summary
Teach high school students in a Catholic-education environment and direct the marching band program. Plan and implement lesson plans aligned with the Texas TEA and Archdiocese requirements; develop field shows; teach instrumental music and marching techniques; coordinate rehearsals, performances, competitions, and travel logistics; collaborate with staff, booster clubs, and parents; recruit/retain students and supervise staff/volunteers; manage band budget and communications with parents and administration; ensure safety, student behavior, and compliance with TAPPS and school policies; support extracurricular activities and provide leadership development through music and performance; use technology to enhance teaching and learning; participate in staff development and adhere to Safe Environment requirements. Requires a Bachelor’s degree, state teaching certification, and background screenings; may require weekends/nights and a full school day.
Required Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree
- 12 credit hours in education courses or a valid, appropriate state certificate, as outlined in the Texas Catholic Conference Education Department standards
- Technology proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and internet use for educational purposes and multimedia presentations
- Demonstrated competency in the subject assigned
- Must pass archdiocesan Safe Environment Requirements and background screening
- Must pass Texas DPS Fingerprint-based Applicant Clearinghouse screening
- Must have knowledge of subject area and general knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Must be able to instruct students and manage behavior
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Must be detail oriented, organized, self-motivated, able to work independently and on a team
- Must have good written and verbal skills
- May be required to work some weekends and nights
- Must have the ability to work a full school day
- Must have good critical thinking and problem-solving skills
