Job Summary
Athletic Trainer/Sports Medicine Teacher in a high school setting responsible for developing and implementing an athletic training program and a sports medicine instructional program. Evaluates and treats sport-related injuries, manages health-care administration and medical record keeping, oversees budget and inventory, educates coaches, parents, and student athletes, and supervises student assistants. Requires a Bachelor's degree, CPR/First Aid certification, and NATABOC; must hold or be eligible for a Virginia teaching license with endorsement in the assigned area. Strong classroom management, curriculum planning, and the ability to adapt instructional content to student needs are essential. Demonstrates enthusiasm for learning, maintains a neat, safe environment, and collaborates with physicians and health professionals as part of the athletic health care team.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Valid teaching license in Virginia with endorsement in the area assigned
- CPR/First Aid certification
- National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification (NATABOC)
- Hold or be eligible for appropriate Virginia teaching license
- Experience with athletic training curriculum and sports medicine education
- Ability to manage budget and inventory for athletic training program
- Experience supervising student assistants and coaching staff
