Job Summary
Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill district curriculum requirements while preparing accommodations for diverse student learning styles. Coach students to develop athletic skills, manage practice sessions, and enforce UIL rules and eligibility criteria. Drive a school bus to transport students safely, reporting mechanical issues and complying with Texas CDL laws. Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal testing, and supervise assigned assistant coaches. Compile and file all required reports, attend staff committees, and maintain inventory of athletic equipment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from accredited university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or required training for subject and level assigned
- Demonstrated competency in the academic subject area assigned
- Ability to obtain a CDL with passenger, air brake and safety endorsements
- Knowledge of academic subject assigned
- General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Ability to instruct students and supervise student athletes
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- General knowledge of coaching techniques and procedures
- Knowledge of University Interscholastic League (UIL) rules
- Ability to pass annual and random DOT physical/drug testing
- Ability to physically perform a front and back door bus evacuation
- Ability to physically perform CPR and First Aid techniques on the ground or floor
- Ability to lift 30lbs
- Ability to maneuver effectively in a school bus
- Capable of responding calmly in emergency situations
- Quality experience as a coach or participant in sports assigned
