Job Summary
Collaborates with classroom teacher in performance of teaching functions providing support to students and coteaching. Provides instructional and behavioral management support to students. Works with children in small and large group settings, as well as individually, under the supervision of the Director of Education. Participates in lesson planning, prepares and/or delivers lessons, and provides classroom coverage as a substitute teacher for classrooms of 6 to 8 school-aged children with brain injuries or brain-based disabilities. Communicates with parents, staff, and administration; supervises paraprofessionals; collaborates on a developmentally appropriate program; partners with each student’s iHOPE therapy team as needed; participates in setup, cleaning, and maintenance of classroom equipment and supplies; may participate in IEP meetings when necessary; performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s degree preferably in education-related field
- Current certificate and registration as a Level III Teaching Assistant issued by the New York State Education Department
- Satisfactory equivalent combination of education, experience and/or training
- Exhibits exceptional interpersonal, problem solving, and communication skills
- Exhibits the ability to take initiative
