Job Summary
Work one-on-one with assigned students under teacher direction, adjusting instruction and learning activities accordingly. Instruct students during teacher absences or while they attend team meetings and parent conferences, utilizing behavior management techniques to promote smooth classroom functioning. Monitor student learning behavior progress, maintain ongoing records of instruction, and assist teachers with record-keeping and educational field trips. Participate as a member of the treatment team, attend staff meetings and training, and provide on-call coverage on a rotating basis. Resolve conflict situations effectively with teachers and support student academic growth.
Required Qualifications
- 21 years of age
- High school diploma or its recognized equivalent (GED)
- Valid driver's License
- Associate degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution of higher education
- At least 60 semester hours of credit from a regionally accredited institution of higher education (excluding remedial coursework)
- Scored 460 or higher on the ParaPro Test with an official report from the Educational Testing Service
- Work Keys test scores: Reading for Information: 4, Writing/Business Writing: 3, and Applied Mathematics: 4
- Ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly
- Availability for travel as needed
- Experience working in a learning environment
