Job Summary
Support classroom instruction and student supervision as a Teacher Associate-Elementary (Sp Ed) under licensed personnel. Assist with small groups and individual student instruction, maintain safe/ orderly environments across varied school settings, prepare materials, support students with physical/behavioral needs, operate standard school equipment, and complete clerical tasks. Maintain confidentiality, promote positive rapport, follow IEP directives, clock in/out per Kronos, and participate in required trainings (First Aid/CPR, CPI, medication administration). Must work with diverse student populations, prepare/assist with daily activities, and may participate in home visits as requested. Willingness to engage in required professional development and maintain up-to-date training including Bloodborne Pathogens. Physical demands include standing, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working in variable environments; clothing suitable for an environment with exposure to fluids and chemicals. Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Demonstrated ability to successfully work with the needs of all Pre-K thru 12th Grade students
- Successful completion of physical, criminal background and child abuse registry check, and pre-work screening at time of hire
- Experience working in an educational setting
- Ability to obtain required training, including but not limited to: certification to administer medication to students, American Heart or Red Cross First Aid/CPR certification, Crisis Prevention Institute Training (CPI)
- Ability to work with all students with diverse needs
- 48 credit hours post-secondary education or Para educator certification from the Iowa Department of Education
