Job Summary
The Teacher Assistant supports classroom teachers by performing non-teaching duties, such as helping students with special needs, monitoring classroom transitions, supervising students, and assisting in the use of instructional resources. The role requires effective communication, participation in staff meetings, adherence to behavior management programs, and supervision of students during various school events. Candidates must have a High School Diploma or equivalent, be working towards NYS CTA certification, maintain Therapeutic Crisis Intervention certification, and possess knowledge in assisting students with disabilities.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma/Equivalency required
- Teacher Aide should be in the process of obtaining the NYS CTA certification
- Maintains current certification in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI)
- Knowledge on assisting students with disabilities or special needs
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in school setting preferred
- Demonstrated classroom management skills, preferred
