Job Summary
Conduct one-on-one and small group instruction under teacher direction while reinforcing lessons and monitoring student work. Safely operate a school bus to transport students to and from school and activities, maintaining discipline and performing required vehicle inspections. Provide individualized support for academics, behavioral challenges, and personal care needs; supervise students in classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, playgrounds, and on field trips. Assist with clerical tasks, instructional preparation, grading, and attendance recording. Maintain confidentiality of student information and ensure a safe, orderly environment. This dual-employment role supports high-quality instruction at G.E. Massey Elementary School.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Must pass drug test, background check, and TB test prior to employment
- Hold an Associate's degree or higher in any area
- Complete 30 semester hours of college coursework in any area
- Earn passing scores on the WorkKeys Test (offered at CVCC): Workplace Documents: Level 4+
- Earn passing scores on the WorkKeys Test (offered at CVCC): Applied Math: Level 4+
- Earn passing scores on the WorkKeys Test (offered at CVCC): Business Writing: Level 3+
- Valid driver's license and driving record qualifying for a North Carolina Commercial Driver's License/NCCDL
- Ability to obtain and maintain bus driver certification and comply with all transportation safety regulations
- Knowledge of effective methods for working with students and supporting instruction
- Ability to lift and move up to 100 lbs occasionally, 50 lbs frequently, and 20 lbs constantly
