Job Summary
Assist teachers with daily classroom activities by preparing and modifying instructional materials, leading small groups, and informing educators of student progress. Provide direct support for Individual Education Plans (IEPs), including self-help skills, behavior management, and independent study, while fostering student independence through targeted scaffolding. Manage student behavior in classrooms and common areas in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct, communicate with families under teacher direction, and ensure instructional equipment and supplies are ready. Comply with federal and state laws, participate in state-mandated testing administration, and engage in professional development to improve district performance.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Knowledge of District, campus, and classroom policies and procedures
- Knowledge of techniques used in assisting students with special needs
- Knowledge of SAMA de-escalation and restraint techniques
- Knowledge of First Aid and Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Skill in utilizing general instructional strategies
- Skill in applying classroom/student discipline management
- Skill in communicating effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Skill in operating standard computer and software applications
- Ability to organize and prioritize work responsibilities
- Maintain emotional control under stress
- Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)

Desired Qualifications
