Job Summary
Teacher Assistant for a Special Education post-graduate program at BRCC in Harrisonburg, VA. 10-month position. Responsibilities include developing and maintaining an empathetic attitude toward disabled students, working cooperatively with others, learning specialized instructional/management techniques as needed, and seeking/maintaining CPR/AED/First Aid certification. Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff. Education requirements include a high school diploma or GED with two years of college (12 credits in math/English) or a passing ParaPro assessment (preferred). Eligible candidates may be on the RCPS approved driving list for this role.
Required Qualifications
- Education equivalent to graduation from an accredited high school or GED
- Two years of college, 12 undergraduate credits in math/English or a passing score on the ParaPro Assessment preferred
- Willingness to seek and maintain CPR/AED/First Aid certification

- Special Education Teacher Assistants hired in Secondary Adapted programs are required to be on the RCPS approved driving list
