Job Summary
Teacher Assistant in Special Education provides instructional support and personal assistance to students with disabilities under the supervision of the teacher. Responsibilities include preparing classroom materials, supervising student behavior, implementing behavior modification plans, supporting speech-language activities, facilitating language development, assisting with personal hygiene and medical procedures as needed, operating classroom technology, and maintaining data on student progress. Starts from a 10-month, full-time schedule in Leesburg, VA, with 7 hours per day and non-exempt compensation range $22.47–$25.28 per hour.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Experience as a teacher aide or experience working with children
- Ability to work under the supervision of the teacher
- Ability to work effectively with individual children and small groups
- Ability to lift, position, and assist students as required
- Ability to operate standard office equipment and instructional technology
