Job Summary
Provides instructional support to teachers of students with physical or intellectual disabilities; assists with implementing lesson plans, preparing classroom materials, supervising student behavior, and applying behavior management techniques. Supports language development activities with students, conducts speech-language exercises under the guidance of a speech therapist, and helps with data collection (skill practice, seizure occurrences, toileting). Performs clerical tasks, operates classroom tech (data projector, smartboards), and assists with personal hygiene and physical care as required. Works under teacher supervision to help individual students and small groups meet instructional objectives; handles duties such as supervising centers, facilitating discussions, and assisting with classroom activities and the use of AV equipment. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds and adapt to diverse student needs; strong communication and patience are essential.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Experience as a teacher aide or experience working with children
