Job Summary
Provide instructional support to teachers in a Special Education Autism program. Assist with implementing lesson plans, preparing classroom materials, supervising student behavior, and applying behavior management techniques. Support speech-language activities by reading to students, stimulating language development, and facilitating expressive and receptive language tasks. Help operate audiovisual equipment (e.g., data projectors, smartboards) and supervise learning centers during independent work, while assisting with clerical duties and personal care as required. Reports to Principal or Assistant Principal; 10 months duration with 7 hours per day; salary range $22.47–$25.48 per hour (annualized to $46,738–$52,998). Remote work is not indicated for this role; position based in Sterling, Virginia.
Required Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED
- Experience: Experience as a teacher aide or experience working with children
- Ability to work under the supervision of the teacher, following lesson plans
- Ability to work with individual children and small groups to meet instructional objectives
- Physical ability to lift, position, and assist students as needed
- Ability to operate standard office equipment and multimedia devices
- Good human relations and communications skills; patience and flexibility
