Job Summary
Assist in implementing the Head Start curriculum daily to foster children's social, emotional, intellectual, and physical development while maintaining a safe, healthy learning environment. Complete daily classroom housekeeping chores including cleaning tables, sweeping floors, and removing trash. Work with staff to encourage parent involvement and welcome parents as volunteers. Observe children for ongoing assessment, take accurate notes, and participate in fall planning and spring progress report conferences. Stay current on CDA credentials or state certifications and complete supervisor-approved trainings.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education
- NYS Certification
- Child Development Associate credential (CDA)
- Must provide on a biennial basis a physical from a licensed health care provider, clearing you under New York State Day Care regulations
- Background check
- Knowledge and understanding of issues related to individuals and families in poverty
- Ability to build upon the strengths of those we serve with diverse racial, cultural, social, educational and economic backgrounds, including high risk populations, to provide high-level services and lasting solutions to fit each individuals and family's needs
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to respond professionally in a fast-paced environment that nurtures children
