Job Summary
Provide academic assistance by delivering group and individualized instruction, correcting student work, and reporting progress to teachers. Prepare classroom materials, serve as a proctor during testing, and maintain accurate attendance and behavior records. Monitor student safety in classrooms and hallways, resolve conflicts, and enforce discipline through approved methods. Operate school buses or act as a sub-driver/monitor as required by the principal while maintaining state certification. Perform physical tasks including lifting and reaching, and communicate regularly with parents and staff.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Working knowledge of effective methods of dealing with children
- Ability to solve minor problems
- Ability to follow detailed written and oral instructions
- Must be able to communicate orally and in writing with parents, staff, and community leaders
- Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of fingering, grasping, kneeling, sitting, walking, stooping, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, talking, seeing, hearing, and repetitive motion
- Must maintain appropriate bus driver certification at all times
