Job Summary
Assist students with disabilities under the direction of certified personnel to help achieve IEP goals. Responsibilities include implementing IEP goals, carrying out small group and one-on-one instruction, aiding teachers and therapists with data and records, supporting OT/SLP/PT needs, maintaining computer skills and communication devices, implementing and following behavioral and self-care plans (including toileting and lifting for positioning), and accompanying students to therapy sessions. Also responsible for data keeping, observing and charting behavior, providing positive reinforcement, supervising students with self-regulation needs, and intervening to de-escalate crises per the supervising teacher’s IEP plan.
Required Qualifications
- High School or Trade School
- Ability and willingness to work with students who have special needs and/or self regulation needs
- Experience with special education or paraprofessional support is suggested
