Job Summary
Provide support to Pre-K students with diverse learning needs as a Teacher Assistant in a one-year Pre-K Special Education role. Collaborate with general and special educators to implement IEPs, reinforce academic skills, and promote student engagement. Conduct small-group instruction, supervise students in classrooms, hallways, and on field trips, assist with toileting and self-care, prepare and distribute educational materials, and support behavior and discipline strategies under teacher supervision. Participate in ongoing professional development and serve as a reliable substitute when needed; maintain a professional, inclusive environment aligned with district and union policies.
Required Qualifications
- Rhode Island Early Learning and Development Foundation certification (or willingness to work toward RIELDS-based curriculum)
- Rhode Island state ParaPro testing requirement: passing score 461 on ParaPro Test
- Or Associate’s degree OR 48 college credits
- RIDE Certification: Teacher Assistant Training Program Certificate
