Job Summary
Conduct daily instruction in all curriculum areas by following lesson plans and reinforcing subjects introduced by absent teachers. Supervise students to provide relief time for teacher planning periods and conferences, or assist with special projects and small-group learning. Discuss absences with teachers and extend lesson plans as needed. Prepare instructional materials including posters, charts, and game boards; set up learning centers and assist students with difficulties. Participate in staff development activities and perform other related duties assigned. Bilingual and biliterate status may be required depending on assignment; virtual experience may be necessary based on assignment.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalency Certificate
- 48 college credits hours
- One (1) year virtual learning technology, remote instruction platforms, Learning Management Systems, and video conferencing tools, if assigned to Virtual Academy
- Willingness to learn and implement instructional methods, strategies, and techniques to assist teachers in the education of students
- Ability to exercise patience, courtesy, tact, and good judgment in dealing with students, teachers, administrators, fellow employees and parents
- Ability to independently plan and/or follow instructional lessons/assignments
- Demonstrated ability to effectively work and communicate with diverse populations
- Demonstrated proficiency with business technology applications (e.g. Video/Web Conferencing, Microsoft Office Suite -Word, Excel, Outlook, and/or PowerPoint)
- Bilingual and biliterate in targeted language, if assigned to bilingual program
- Active licenses, certifications, and enrollment
