Job Summary
Provide instructional assistance to students under the direct supervision of a certified teacher, including preparing materials, managing small groups, and administering assessments. Help maintain a neat classroom, care for equipment, and keep administrative records while supervising students throughout the school day, including lunchroom and playground duties. Assist teachers in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics, and keep instructors informed of individual student needs. Follow district safety protocols, emergency procedures, and confidentiality policies while participating in staff development and faculty meetings as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Have met formal academic assessment, associate's degree, or two years of study at an institution of higher learning*
- Valid Texas Educational Aide certificate
- Ability to work well with children
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics
- Some experience with children
