Job Summary
Provide instructional and non-instructional services to infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and school-age children under the supervision of a certified special education teacher. Assist the teacher in implementing IEP and IFSP goals, collaborate on lesson plans, and work with individual or small groups on learning activities. Perform physical care tasks including therapeutic feeding, toileting, and positioning, while maintaining accurate classroom documentation and ensuring a safe, organized learning environment. Transport students to and from school with adapted equipment, collaborate on professional development plans, and adhere to all NYDOH health standards and infection control policies. Requires valid New York State Assistant Teacher Certification, a high school diploma or GED, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid New York State Assistant Teacher Certification
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language fluently
- Must meet or exceed all health standards and requirements for the position as established by NYDOH and all other regulatory agencies
- Must meet the general health requirements set fourth by the policies of this School which includes a medical and physical examination
- Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of fifty (50) pounds
- Must be able to assist in the evacuation of children, if necessary
