Job Summary
Assist the special education teacher in implementing IEP and IFSP goals for assigned students while collaborating on lesson plan activities. Provide instructional and non-instructional services to infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and school-age children, including therapeutic feeding, toileting, and positioning. Act as a substitute teacher during classroom absences and transport students to and from school with adapted equipment. Maintain accurate documentation for attendance, health checks, and goal tracking while ensuring a safe, sanitized learning environment. Transport students securely and perform physical tasks requiring lifting up to fifty pounds.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid New York State Assistant Teacher Certification
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language fluently
- Must meet or exceed all health standards and requirements for the position as established by NYDOH and all other regulatory agencies
- Must meet the general health requirements set fourth by the policies of this School which includes a medical and physical examination
- Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of fifty (50) pounds
- Must be able to assist in the evacuation of children, if necessary
