Job Summary
Coordinate instructional efforts with classroom teachers and supervise students in cafeterias, libraries, playgrounds, and restrooms. Present subject matter, administer and grade assignments, and assist with filing student records while maintaining classroom cleanliness. Operate media and technology equipment including computers and projectors, and prepare teaching aids. Drive a school bus when required to serve as a substitute or regular route driver. This role involves supporting teaching staff under principal supervision for a 10-month term at Davidson County Schools, with a minimum salary of $17.61 hourly.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from high school
- Three to six months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of basic needs and developmental stages of children
- Knowledge of typical behavioral patterns and issues as it deals with children
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to write simple correspondence
- Ability to perform simple arithmetic
- Ability to operate various media and technology equipment such as computer, television, VCR, cassette player, overhead projector, laminator, copy machine and various other office equipment
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff and parents
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with department heads, employees, and the general public
- Required to obtain a CDL and Bus License
- Required to serve as a substitute bus driver and/or regular bus route driver
- Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of fingering, hearing, talking, and repetitive motions
- Must be able to perform sedentary work exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects
- Must be able to obtain a CDL in order to drive a school bus
