Job Summary
Assist the teacher with classroom material preparation, upkeep, and daily activities while supervising children indoors and outdoors using positive discipline techniques aligned with NAEYC standards. Monitor children's daily growth and development through age-appropriate language and activities, ensuring open communication with the classroom teacher, administration, parents, and Virtua clientele while maintaining confidentiality. Support center-closing activities each evening and contribute to cleanliness and upkeep of the classroom, playground, and center. As an integral part of the Child Development Center team, enable Virtua employees by caring for their dependents during work hours.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma
- Currently enrolled or willing to complete ECE units at a local college within one year of employment
- Meets minimum preparation and experience required by state licensing for fully qualified Teacher Assistant
- Maintains credentials for the position
- Two or more years of formal experience in child care setting
- Optimistic and displays a can-do attitude
- Team player
- Demonstrated the ability to establish effective relationships with parents, children and co-workers
- Maintain high teaching standards
- Believe that the care they provide is invaluable
- Supervises children, indoors and outdoors, providing positive discipline techniques according to NAEYC standards
- Participates in all developmentally appropriate activities with children
- Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development of the specific age group of children she/he works with through developmentally appropriate language, activities and approach in accordance with NAEYC standards
- Ensures open, positive and effective communication with classroom teacher, administration, staff members, parents and all Virtua clientele while maintaining confidentiality
- Assists in cleanliness and upkeep of classroom, playground and center
- Assists in preparation and follow through on materials for age-appropriate activities that emphasize hands-on learning
- Supports teachers in all classrooms and covers PTO for staff
