Job Summary

Partner with teachers, families, and team members to plan and carry out day-to-day classroom activities for infants and toddlers. Learn proper teaching techniques through observation and develop proficiency in screenings, assessments, and lesson planning that reflect high expectations. Collaborate on center-wide initiatives, participate in home visits and conferences, and build trust through clear, honest communication. Support daily operations including attendance, meal census, and hygiene routines while observing and recording child growth assessments. Maintain QRIS 5-Star standards by completing at least 30 hours of professional development and utilizing ChildPlus, KidKare, and Online LAP systems. Perform additional Head Start duties and frequent travel to off-site locations. This role requires a commitment to continuous improvement and working within a licensed childcare facility.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED graduate
  • Current CDA (Child Development Associate) or Certificate of Mastery in Infant/Toddler
  • Alternative: A commitment to obtaining the CDA or Certificate of Mastery within one year of the hire date
  • At least one year of experience working with preschool-age children
  • Credit is given for volunteer services within a Head Start program, showing a preference for those familiar with the specific model
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse cultures and backgrounds
  • Ability to meet and maintain evolving 'Work Environment' standards
  • Must meet all state and funding source requirements, including mandatory fingerprinting and background checks
  • Must have a valid Oklahoma State driver's license and reliable transportation available
  • No physical restrictions that would hinder the ability to safely and effectively work with infants and toddlers
  • Must be mobile and agile to perform required tasks such as lifting up to forty-five (45) pounds
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and able to run or walk hurriedly for a child's safety
  • This position requires frequent travel to off-site locations
