Job Summary
Supervise and monitor children at all times while establishing a safe, stimulating learning environment. Greet families upon arrival and escort children to and from the bus. Collaborate with lead teachers to implement educational programs, assist with mealtime and nutrition, and support academic and play activities. Help children maintain peer relationships and manage personal care needs. Maintain room equipment, prepare classroom materials, and encourage parental involvement in activities. Perform moderate to vigorous activity, including prolonged standing and lifting up to 25 pounds. Complete mandatory trainings and pass a physical examination.
Required Qualifications
- Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or a state awarded certificate that meets or exceeds the requirements for a CDA credential
- For Early Head Start – Child Development Associate (CDA) credential in infant development
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Must be flexible and able to adjust to changing circumstances
- Use positive reinforcement and redirection techniques to manage classroom behavior
- Provide emotional support and foster a positive, supportive environment
- Ability to work well with others
- Communicate with parents, build partnerships and involve families in the child's learning
- Active listening, writing, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to lift/move up to 25 pounds
- Must pass a physical examination by a CAO physician at no cost to applicant
- NYS SCR Clearance Form with acceptable clearance
- Criminal Record Certification and free of criminal convictions of crimes against children (misdemeanor or felony)
- Fingerprinting required
- Release for Reference Checks
