Job Summary
Teacher Assistant provides support to the teacher in the instruction of students in a K-12 classroom and NCPK setting, including group and individualized instruction, preparing materials and visual aids, proctoring testing, monitoring and reporting student progress, attendance, and behavior, and assisting with records and classroom organization. Requires collaboration with teachers/principal, ability to lift/move objects, and strong English communication; preferred qualification includes an associate degree in education or CDA/related field progression.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in education or equivalent, preferred in a related field, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the job functions.
- For NCPK Teacher Assistants, the following education and credentials are required: (a) All teacher assistants shall have a high school diploma or its equivalent and shall either: (1) hold a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential; or (2) hold or be working toward an Associate Degree or higher in birth-through-kindergarten, child development, early childhood education, or an early childhood education-related field. Teacher assistants working toward the Associate Degree shall make progress by completing a minimum of six semester hours per year.
