Job Summary
Coordinate classroom duties, guide students, and operate media technology while assisting teachers with lesson planning, grading, and parent conferences. Supervise student groups in the cafeteria, library, and playground, and maintain facility cleanliness. Drive a school bus when assigned to routes or as a substitute driver, requiring a valid CDL license. Perform work inside and outside in varied environments under the supervision of the principal. This 10-month role offers a starting salary of $17.44 hourly for the assistant and $18.49 hourly for the driver, with up to five years of relevant experience credited.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from high school
- Three to six months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and training
- Knowledge of basic needs and developmental stages of children
- Knowledge of typical behavioral patterns and issues as it deals with children
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to write simple letters and notes
- Ability to perform simple tasks
- Ability to operate various media and technology equipment such as computer, television, VCR, cassette player, overhead projector, laminator, copy machine and various other office equipment
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group settings
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff and parents
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with department heads, employees, and the general public
- Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of fingering, hearing, talking, and repetitive motions
- Must be able to perform sedentary work exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects
- Required to obtain a CDL and Bus License
- Required to serve as a substitute bus driver and/or regular bus route driver
