Job Summary
Coordinate classroom duties and assist teaching staff with instructional planning, student supervision in multiple areas, and the operation of media and technology equipment. Drive a school bus when assigned to serve as a substitute or regular route driver, requiring a valid CDL license. Prepare teaching aids, grade assignments, and maintain student records while adhering to OSHA bloodborne pathogens standards. Work under the supervision of the principal in a 10-month term, with 30 hours weekly as a Teacher Assistant and 10 hours weekly as a Bus Driver.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from high school
- Three to six months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and training
- Knowledge of basic needs and developmental stages of children
- Knowledge of typical behavioral patterns and issues as it deals with children
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to write simple letters and notes
- Ability to perform simple tasks
- Ability to operate various media and technology equipment such as computer, television, VCR, cassette player, overhead projector, laminator, copy machine and various other office equipment
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group settings
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff and parents
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with department heads, employees, and the general public
- Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of fingering, hearing, talking, and repetitive motions
- Must be able to perform sedentary work exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects
- Required to obtain a CDL license
- Required to obtain a Bus License
- Required to serve as a substitute bus driver and/or regular bus route driver
