Job Summary
Coordinate instructional efforts with classroom teachers and supervise students in classrooms, cafeterias, libraries, and playgrounds. Plan and prepare teaching aids, present subject matter using various methods, and assist students with lesson assignments. Operate media and technology equipment including computers and projectors, and prepare reports and materials. Maintain classroom cleanliness and assist staff as requested. Drive a school bus when required to serve as a substitute or regular driver. This part-time role involves 19.75 hours weekly for 10 months, reporting to the principal.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from high school
- Three to six months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of basic needs and developmental stages of children
- Knowledge of typical behavioral patterns and issues as it deals with children
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to write simple correspondence
- Ability to perform simple arithmetic
- Ability to operate various media and technology equipment such as computer, television, VCR, cassette player, overhead projector, laminator, copy machine and various other office equipment
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff and parents
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with department heads, employees, and the general public
- Required to obtain a CDL and Bus License
- Required to serve as a substitute bus driver and/or regular bus route driver
- Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of fingering, hearing, talking, and repetitive motions
- Must be able to perform sedentary work exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects
- Must be able to obtain a CDL in order to drive a school bus
