Job Summary
ASPIRE Academy Teacher (GT 9th ELAR) and AP English Language & Composition/PSAT Prep — responsible for delivering advanced instruction to highly gifted 9th graders in ELAR and AP Language & Composition, developing differentiated lesson plans aligned to district and Texas standards, and preparing students for AP and college readiness. Collaborate with special education staff to adapt curricula via IEPs, assess student growth using formal and informal methods, and employ technology to enhance learning. Lead classroom management and behavior expectations, communicate with parents and guardians, supervise teacher aides and volunteers, support extracurricular activities, and participate in ongoing professional development. Requires a Bachelor’s degree, valid Texas teaching certificate with endorsements/training, GT experience (30 hours + annual update), ESL certification, and at least three years of teaching experience; AP Language & Composition and GT certifications preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
- Advanced degree preferred
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or required training for subject and level assigned
- Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area(s) assigned
- Gifted and Talented Supplemental or certification preferred
- GT 30 hours plus annual 6-hour update required
- Experience teaching AP Language & Composition preferred
- ESL certification
- At least three years of teaching experience
