Job Summary
Teaches District approved curriculum and meets/instructs assigned classes in designated times/locations. Plans a program of study using varied instructional techniques and media to meet individual student needs, creates a conducive learning environment, enforces policies, guides student behavior toward curriculum goals, assists in diagnosing learning disabilities with district specialists, evaluates student growth, maintains records, and is available to students/parents outside instructional hours. Requires a four-year degree, major/24 hours in the taught subject, Praxis II passage, and a valid North Carolina teaching license/certificate (or ability to obtain). Strong reading, writing, mathematics, reasoning, computer, and communication skills; ability to apply current instructional research to practice; ability to establish positive relationships with students, peers, and parents.
Required Qualifications
- Four year degree from a college or university
- Major, or 24 semester hours, in subject area to be taught
- Passing score on Praxis II Test in subject area to be taught (Must have already passed Praxis II before being considered for employment in Elementary Education or Exceptional Education)
- Valid N.C. teaching license/certificate, or be able to obtain such
